Gosport celebrates summer with Arts in the Parks events

27 July 2022 - A series of free magical, musical and family-friendly events will take place in parks across Gosport this summer. The Arts in the Parks events, hosted by Gosport Borough Council, will be open to all and aim to bring inspiring and surprising performances, from poetry and music to children's theatre, into parks and green spaces across the borough.

30 March 2022 - The council is improving three play areas to make them more fun for local families. The playgrounds will have more opportunities for challenging activities, and will cater for a wider range of ages and abilities.

New murals for Gosport High Street and bus station unveiled

22 March 2022 - Two new eye-catching murals inspired by Gosport's rich nautical history are set to be unveiled in the town. A colourful design depicting Gosport's HMS Alliance submarine, ropes, chains and propellers will wrap the waterfront side of the bus station. And a bright and bold image including local landmarks will be installed in the town centre.

24 February 2022 - The Mayor and Deputy Mayor of Gosport, Cllr Mark Hook and Cllr Zoe Huggins, have opened an exhibition at the Town Hall to mark this year's Fairtrade Fortnight.

Council Leader welcomes transport interchange progress

11 February 2022 - The Leader of Gosport Borough Council has welcomed a major milestone on the way to redeveloping the town's waterfront. Cllr Graham Burgess said a planning application for a new transport interchange was a major boost to plans to redevelop the waterfront site, near Gosport ferry terminal.

Forton Lake Millennium bridge is back in operation

28 January 2022 - The Forton Lake lifting bridge is operating normally again, following repairs and tests by the council this week. Boaters can now ask for the bridge to be lifted so they can leave and enter the lake.

Success for crackdown on dumped cars

12 January 2022 - A council crackdown has succeeded in clearing dozens of unauthorised cars from a local neighbourhood. All 25 vehicles given warning notices have been moved.

12 new chargers to help Gosport go electric

6 January 2022 - A dozen new electric vehicle charge points are coming to council car parks in the borough. Members of the Community Board last night gave the go-ahead for the new chargers, which will be a mix of rapid and slower types.

Crackdown on cars dumped in street

17 December 2021 - The council has launched a crackdown to stop dozens of unauthorised cars being left in a local neighbourhood. Norfolk Road, Brockhurst, and a private parking area off the road, are where the crackdown is focused. Many residents have been unable to get access to their garages, use their private parking spaces, or use public parking spaces on the road.

Festive fun in Gosport town centre on Saturday

15 December 2021 - Plenty of free festive fun is planned for Gosport's town centre on Saturday [18 December], including live music, street performers and a giant snow globe. The globe is scheduled to be near the Town Hall from 11am to 3pm. Two of Santa's elves will be welcoming visitors to a magical snowy scene inside the globe. It's free, and all visitors need to do is to bring a phone or a camera.

Revamps for historic buildings will boost town centre

9 December 2021 - Six historic properties in Gosport's town centre will get facelifts as part of a plan to spruce up the area and encourage more visitors. A total of £400,000 is being shared out among the owners so they can restore their shopfronts and make the most of their historic character.
