Concessions
We offer businesses permission to trade from some public land like the seafront, parks and open spaces.
Whether you run a café, ice cream van, or leisure business, a concession license is an ideal opportunity to grow your business using key locations around the borough.
We consider bids for concessions in a fair, open and transparent way, as set out in our current Concessions Policy. This is a live document and is updated when needed.
Concession licenses for 2025
New opportunities for licenses will be shared on the South East Business Portal in early 2025. Register your interest on the website to be notified as soon as they and other opportunities go live.
Frequently asked questions
How can I apply to trade from Council land?
All opportunities are posted on the South East Business Portal, along with contracts from over a dozen other councils in the region. Generally licenses are issued annually.
How can I find out when new opportunities come up?
Register on the South East Business Portal to be notified when new concession opportunities are available in Gosport.
Who can apply for a concession license?
Generally we welcome applications from businesses where their offer doesn't compete with nearby local business or existing concessions.
Do I need to complete any other paperwork?
Successfully gaining a concession license doesn't exempt your business from other regulations where relevant, such as planning permission, food hygiene, and other health and safety requirements. We recommend you check that your business is able to meet these.
How long do the licenses run for?
Usually we offer annual licenses for our concessions, and some locations will be seasonal and others full-year round. The details for specific locations will be set out in the documentation.
When the licenses come to an end, they are posted on the South East Business Portal.
How can I get help with using the portal?
The provider of the portal, Proactis, can help with any technical questions you might have. You can log a ticket to request help, or email ProContractSuppliers@proactis.com. Unfortunately, Gosport Borough Council can't assist with individual applications, to avoid favouring one supplier over another.
