Corporate Policy and Community Safety

CORPORATE POLICY AND COMMUNITY SAFETY SECTION

This section provides guidance and support to the organisation in the key areas of Corporate Policy, Community Safety, Safeguarding, Health and Wellbeing, Equality & Diversity, Climate Change, Voluntary and Community Sector, Young People and the Armed Forces Community.


Key activities include:

 

  • Developing and advising on Corporate Policies and Strategies, developing guidance and assisting in the delivery of special projects
  • Delivering a corporate approach to, and support for, Equality and Diversity that meets Public Sector Equality Duty requirements
  • Delivering a corporate approach to Safeguarding Children and Young People, providing a policy, advice, training and support to staff and members
  • Co-ordinating delivery of the Prevent Duty and providing Prevent training to staff and contracted services
  • Providing strategic and contract management of the CCTV system for the Borough

  • Co-ordinating Health and Wellbeing initiatives with a strategic oversight of the local issues

  • Developing and implementing the annual Community Safety Partnership Plan and Strategic AssessmentCoordinating Partnership Action Group meetings to help address anti-social behaviour, domestic abuse, offender management, drugs and alcohol and other issues and vulnerabilities

  • Coordinating Homelessness Action Group meetings to help support and address street homelessness and associated behaviours

  • Responding to reports of anti-social behaviour working with partners to support victims and coordination and facilitation of ASB Case Reviews (also known as Community Triggers)

  • Providing guidance on the Armed Forces Covenant and Defence Employers Recognition Scheme, liaising with partners on the Solent Armed Forces Covenant Partnership

  • Providing a strategic approach to children and young people, including the Local Children and Young People's Partnership

  • Developing a corporate approach, information and guidance to mitigating the impact of Climate Change, including a Climate Change Strategy and Action Plan

  • Supporting the Gosport Climate Change Partnership to raise community awareness of and practical responses to mitigating the impacts of Climate Change across the Borough

  • Liaison with the Community and Voluntary Organisations on cross-sector partnership initiatives

  • Undertaking community engagement work including the annual Safer Gosport Community Day, Summer Passport Scheme and other projects

  • Coordinating community safety-related messages, including the use of social media and the Safer Gosport web site
