New Gosport Mayor promises positivity

The newly appointed Mayor of Gosport has promised to help showcase everything good about the town and borough.
Cllr Kirsten Bradley was elected mayor at a ceremony at Thorngate Halls, taking over from retiring mayor Cllr Richard Earle.
In her speech Cllr Bradley said:
"I have always been very proud of our beautiful borough and over the last few years I have really opened my eyes to how many people dedicate their time and energy to make it thrive and a wonderful place to be.
"We have all heard negativity around our hometown. Many don't notice the good.
"See it like a visitor with fresh eyes and appreciate living in the prime south coast of the UK, look for the good and together support all the efforts of businesses and the opportunities that exist."

She promised to 'raise as much money as I can' for her chosen charities this year: Lee Hub Community Library, Marvels and Meltdowns who support families of children with autism and ADHD, and Andy's Man Club, a group open for all men over the age of 18.
The new mayor spoke about many of Gosport Borough Council's recent projects and achievements. Using the £18m government levelling up funding to regenerate Gosport, including transforming the former naval rum store into commercial use, as well as improving public spaces.
Gaining planning permission to turn the former HMS Daedalus into 350 homes and commercial space, with work starting this year, and building the borough's first new council homes for local families in many years.
And creating new leisure facilities and open park space for people and families to enjoy, including a new People's Park on the old bus station site, which will offer stunning views across the harbour.
The new mayor thanked Cllr Earle for his successful year as mayor, which included raising over £10,000 for local good causes.
Cllr Bradley added:
"It's clear to see that there are exciting times ahead for Gosport, and I'm delighted that 2025 stands to be even better and brighter than last year."
