Discover Gosport's Easter events on new community website
Easter holiday days out, award-winning local businesses, and more, feature on a revamped website promoting things to do and places to go in Gosport.
Gosport Borough Council has launched the Discover Gosport website with a new design and content to better promote our local businesses and attractions for residents and visitors alike.
The fresh website offers news, information and listings for things to do, places to visit and upcoming events across the borough. These include great locations for local foodies, hidden heritage gems, and mesmerising museums.
Among the inspirational ideas are five family-friendly days out this Easter, including visiting the borough's popular splash parks.
Creating a community resource
It's hoped that over time it'll grow into a community resource for local information to bring people closer to what's on in their area, and how they can support local businesses. Organisations can request updates and additions to the Discover Gosport website via forms on the contact us page.
The redesign was recently completed as part of a Government-funded programme to help improve digital information and services in the borough, to boost the local economy. Many businesses and community groups don't have the resources to run a website or social media platform themselves - but Discover Gosport can be a place to help them promote their work in the community.
The accompanying Discover Gosport Facebook page also highlights events and things to do in the borough.
Councillor Peter Chegwyn, Leader of Gosport Borough Council said: "Gosport has so much going on across the borough, and the Discover Gosport website will bring it all together. Residents and visitors will be able to find out what's going on and where to go - whether it's looking for Easter holiday activities, green spaces to get some fresh air, or somewhere to get a great coffee."
Gosport, a Digital Peninsula
We know that Gosport's residents and businesses need good quality digital skills and infrastructure to be able to reach their potential. Our strategy to create a Digital Peninsula aims to boost our economy whilst tackling digital exclusion among some of our more vulnerable residents. The programme was awarded £1m by the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and it runs until March 2025.
