Grants to host VE Day street parties in Gosport
This year marks 80 years since VE Day, and Gosport Borough Council is offering money to help local communities celebrate the historic occasion.
Council leader Cllr Peter Chegwyn said:
"The council is offering £100 grants towards street parties and celebrations so Gosport residents can honour VE Day with friends, family and neighbours.
"The money can help pay for costs such as flags, bunting cakes or ice cream, we really encourage people to take up this offer and get together for this important day."
The council is funding up to 50 grants of £100 for VE Day events.
Residents and organisations will need to apply for a grant by Friday 4 April, along with any necessary road closures, which can be made at no cost, at the very latest. Apply here: Victory in Europe (VE) Day - Gosport Borough Council
