Public Inspection Period 2020-2021 Update

Announcement on the publication and inspection of the accounts for 2020-21.

The council would ordinarily be required to publish a 'notice' of the public inspection of the accounts at the end of May, with the inspection period commencing in the first week of June for a six week period.

Following a consultation exercise the Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government has confirmed revised  Account and Audit Regulations which will apply for 2 years (2020/21 and 2021/22).

The regulations state that the publication date of the audited accounts in England will be extended from 31 July to 30 September and that in respect of the period for the exercise of public rights, the common inspection date will be removed, requiring instead that the draft accounts be published and inspection period commence no later than the first working day of August.

Once the actual period of public inspection has been agreed a further announcement will be made in advance of the formal Notice being published.
