Tourist information centre reopens

Gosport's tourist information centre is open again, offering a range of services to local people as well as visitors.

As well as providing tourists with information on the borough's attractions, staff can also help residents with information on activities in the area. They are also booking agents for National Express coach tickets, local theatres and other attractions.

The centre also has a good selection of gift ideas and local history publications.

Cllr Mark Hook, Leader of the Council, said: "Attractions, hotels and other tourism businesses are starting to re-open now, and many of our watersports and outdoor facilities have been open for a while.

"The Tourist Information Centre is a really important service for visitors and local people, helping them to make the most of what's going on in the borough."

The centre, at the bus station on South Street, Gosport, near the ferry terminal, is open from 10am to 4pm, Monday to Saturday. For everyone's safety during coronavirus restrictions, customers are being served through a counter window, to avoid people having to come inside the centre.

People can call the centre on (023) 9252 2944, email tourism@gosport.gov.uk or go to the Gosport Tourist Information Centre page on Facebook.

Information about attractions and events in Gosport is also available at www.discovergosport.co.uk  See the news section for guidance on planning trips during the pandemic. Because of current restrictions, the centre's advice is to check directly with venues and event organisers before making plans.
