Right to Rent

From 1st February 2016, a new government reform came into force in England requiring private landlords to check the immigration status of prospective tenants and lodgers before they move into their properties, to avoid liability for a civil penalty.

Under the new rules, landlords who fail to carry out the correct right to rent checks could be liable to a civil penalty.  The penalty is upto £3,000 per tenant.

As part of our services offered to RAPS landlords, we will carry out these checks on your behalf before we nominate a prospective tenant to you, so you will not have to carry out these checks yourself.
