Vote for Crescent Garden to be a national favourite

Gosport people have a chance to make Crescent Garden in Alverstoke one of the nation's favourite green spaces.

Last month the garden was given another prestigious Green Flag Award. Now the competition organisers, Keep Britain Tidy, are asking people to decide which Green Flag winners around the country should receive a national People’s Choice Award.

To help Crescent Garden get into the top 10 on the People’s Choice list, residents need to go to www.greenflagaward.org, find Crescent Garden on the winners map and click the voting button.

Once they’ve registered your vote, they can encourage others to get involved on social media using the hashtag #PeoplesChoice.

Cllr Mark Hook, Leader of Gosport Borough Council, said: "Crescent Garden is a very special place and we're very proud of its Green Flag. Now's the chance to really put it on the national map. I'd urge everyone to vote and make sure it gets the recognition it deserves."

Voting opens 1 September and closes 30 September, with the top 10 sites being announced on 16 October.

Paul Todd, Green Flag Award manager, said: "This year 1,883 parks and green spaces met the tough standards demanded by our Green Flag Award judges, but we want to know which parks the UK public love the most.

“The People’s Choice award is a chance to show how much your favourite park means to you. If it’s worth shouting about, make your voice heard and vote now.”
