Remembrance service on 12 November

Gosport residents are being encouraged to attend the borough’s Remembrance Sunday service on 12 November, at Gosport War Memorial Hospital.

A guard, courtesy of HMS Sultan, will form up on the road opposite the hospital at 10.20am. They will march to the hospital along with representatives from the Royal British Legion, veterans groups, Scouts, Guides, Sea Cadets, Air Cadets and other local organisations.

The ceremony, conducted by the Mayor’s Chaplain, the Rev Karen Mitchell, will start at 10.58am. Music will be provided by the Gosport Solent Brass Band and a bugler from the HMS Sultan Volunteer Band will sound Last Post and Reveille.

The Mayor, Cllr Linda Batty, will lay a wreath on behalf of the borough, joined by the Queen’s representative from the Lord-Lieutenant’s office, Brigadier David Innes. Wreaths from civic, service and association representatives will then be laid.

After the ceremony a march past will take place in front of the hospital, where the salute will be taken.

The order of service can be downloaded from here.
