Mayor to hold festive charity tea

Residents are being invited to a festive afternoon tea next month, to help the Mayor of Gosport raise money for local good causes.

The Mayor, Cllr Diane Furlong, will host a Christmas-themed tea at 2.30pm on Tuesday 4 December in the council chamber at Gosport Town Hall.

Former Royal Marines bandsman Ed McDermott will be playing his flute and talking about his life and music.

Cllr Furlong said: "It promises to be a very entertaining afternoon, just listening to Mr McDermott or joining in with a singalong to some familiar tunes. And there will be a plentiful supply of cake, mince pies and sandwiches, all included in the price and kindly donated by Tesco, Asda, Waitrose and local bakery Rolling Scones."

Tickets are £6, from the town hall reception desk. Please call the mayor’s office on 023 9254 5201 for more information.  Entrance to the event is via the door opposite the Discovery Centre from 1.50pm.

The tea will raise money for the Mayor’s chosen good causes, including youth volunteering group Loud and Proud, Southern Domestic Abuse Service, and other local charities and organisations.
