Antiques the focus of charity event

A journey into the world of fine art, antiques and collectables is on offer at a charity event next month.

On Tuesday 26 February, consultant researcher, writer and valuer Mike Bucknole, a former Metropolitan Police detective, will give insights into this fascinating and diverse field.

His talk will be the highlight of a charity afternoon tea held by the Mayor of Gosport, Cllr Diane Furlong, to raise money for good causes including youth volunteering group Loud and Proud, and Stop Domestic Abuse.

Cllr Furlong said: "Mike has had an amazing career, and this promises to be a really interesting talk covering a wide range of subjects. Anyone who's ever been curious about the world of art, antiques and collectables will be intrigued. Plus, it will be a lovely social occasion with refreshments. And it's all helping to raise money for worthwhile local causes."

The event is in the council chamber at Gosport Town Hall, at 2pm for 2.30pm. Entrance will be via the door opposite the Discovery Centre, from 1.50pm.

Tickets are £6, which includes refreshments (sandwiches, cake and scones). There will be a raffle with prizes including whisky, biscuits, and illustrated books on topics such as Tiffany, Fabergé and William Morris.

Tickets are available from reception at the Town Hall. Please contact Casey Wheeler on 023 9254 5201 or email her for more information.
