The Borough has a significant range of important habitats, including inter-tidal mudflats, saltmarshes, woodland and heathland that support numerous protected species.  It is important that areas of nature conservation interest are protected from damage or loss.  Many of these sites are of national and international importance.  The key considerations are outlined below.
