Equal Opportunities Statement

The Borough Council of Gosport confirms its commitment to equality of opportunity in all areas of its work. All individuals will be treated in a fair and equal manner and in accordance with the law regardless of gender, marital status, race, religion, colour, age, disability or sexual orientation.
 
The Council will not discriminate in any area of employment, or in the provision of its services to the public, and accepts its responsibilities to comply with all relevant legislation including the Sex Discrimination Acts 1975 and 1986, the Equal Pay Act 1970, the Race Relations Act 1976, the Disability Discrimination Act 1995, and the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975.
 
It is the responsibility of all officers of the Council to act in a fair and proper manner and in accordance with the Council's Policy. Managers will ensure that the policy is properly applied. Responsibility for central co-ordination, advice and review of the policy lies with the Chief Executive.
 
Anyone who feels that he or she has been subjected to unfair discrimination should take the matter up with the Chief Executive or relevant Manager.
