No matter how big or small your entry, the local Gosport & Lee on the Solent in Bloom competition is the perfect opportunity to take part in something rewarding and worthwhile not only to yourselves but to the whole community.

Gosport in Bloom categories

In all categories marks will be awarded for an aesthetically pleasing design, healthy and vigorous plants, efforts to attract wildlife, water conservation, plants for healthy eating, use of recycled and innovative materials and evidence of all year round interest.

Best Retirement/Sheltered Housing Complex

Best Hanging Basket/Floral Container

Best Front Garden

Best Balcony


Best Volunteer, Community & Neighbourhood Group Award

The judges will also be looking for community participation, environmental responsibility and gardening achievement

 

Gosport in Bloom Category Schools Judging Criteria


Best Edible Garden

Judges will be looking for evidence of the involvement of pupils, in the production of healthy fruit, vegetables, herbs, and plants for healthy eating, efforts to attract wildlife, water conservation, use of recycled and innovative materials, healthy and vigorous plants.


Best Decorative Features 

The judges will be looking for trees, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, ect. and plants for healthy eating that are aesthetically pleasing, healthy and vigorous, efforts to attract wildlife, water conservation, use of recycled and innovative materials and evidence of all year round interest.


Best sensory/quiet garden

The judges will be looking for a calm and aesthetically pleasing design, healthy and vigorous plants, efforts to attract wildlife, water conservation, use of recycled and innovative materials and evidence of all year round interest.


Container garden

The judges will be looking for, containers that are aesthetically pleasing with healthy and vigorous plants, efforts to attract wildlife, water conservation, use of recycled and innovative materials and evidence of all year round interest.

 

Closing date for Entry Forms:


  • Schools Entry Form: Friday 26 May 2017
  • Allotment Entry Form: Friday 26 May 2017
  • Main Entry FormFriday 30 June 2017
  • All participants will receive written confirmation of entry
  • Schools Awards Ceremony will be held at the Town Hall
  • Public Awards Ceremony will be held at the Thorngate Halls on Thursday 28th September 2017 at 20:00hrs


Judging

Allotments will be judged the week Commencing 1 June 2017

Main event entries will be judged 10 to 21 July 2017
