Electoral Review 2020

The Local Government Boundary Commission for England (LGBCE) has informed Gosport Borough Council that it will be conducting an electoral review of the council due to due to the poor levels of electoral equality with 40% of Electoral Wards represented by members that represent significantly fewer or significantly more members than the average for the Borough.

 

Process of the Electoral Review

The process of electoral review covers an examination of a council's electoral arrangements. The electoral review will determine:

  1. Total number of councillors
  2. Total number of wards
  3. Ward boundaries
  4. Number of councillors elected to each ward
  5. Names of each ward

Timetable for the Electoral Review of Gosport

Part 1

Forecast electorate for 2026 by polling district

  • Submission by: 2 November 2020

Council Size submission:

  • Draft Submission by: 12 October 2020
  • Final Submission by: 2 November 2020

 

Part 2

Warding Patterns

  • Consultation on warding patterns:  5 January 2021 to 15 March 2021
  • Consultation on draft recommendations: 1 June 2021 to 9 August 2021

Part 3

Final recommendations

  • Published November 2021
  • Order Made Jan/Feb 2022
  • Elected upon 2022
