Former Mayoress of Gosport, Pat Edgar and the current Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Keith Gill are joining together to support The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 28 September.
Organised in aid of McMillan Cancer Support the event runs from 10am to 12 noon, at the Town Hall, Gosport, where Pat, not a newcomer to arranging Coffee Mornings and Craft Fairs for many Mayors over the years, will be the hostess.
Although this coffee morning isn’t in support of his Charities, The Mayor is keen to support the event and will be popping in to meet and chat with people throughout the morning.
“McMillan Nurses do a truly wonderful job and it is important that we show our thanks by supporting events such as this and raising whatever money we can for the charity. Every pound raised really can make a difference,” said Keith.
Pat quickly pointed out that she hasn’t forgotten the Mayor’s charity and will be organising something a little later in the year, adding, “This was something I really wanted to do in memory of a very dear friend of mine who had the support and care of these wonderful McMillan nurses before she passed away. She was grateful to have that support and it really made a difference to her and her family. To think of others going through something similar without that sort of support is inconceivable. I really just wanted to say thank you for what they did for my friend and hopefully raise some money at the same time so they can continue to help others.”
Organised as part of The Worlds Biggest Coffee Morning to raise money for McMillan Cancer Support who provide the McMillan Nurses, the event will have, as well as coffee, a raffle and a stall with items for sale.
“We hope that people will pop in and have a coffee to support this charity which provides the most wonderful nurses to help and care for people at an extremely difficult time,” added Pat.
