Almost half of the UK’s carbon dioxide (C02) emissions actually come from the energy that we use every day – in our homes, at work and when travelling.
So, for the 11th Annual Energy Saving Week (22-28 October), the Energy Saving Trust, together with Gosport Borough Council, will be encouraging everyone to spread the word about saving energy.
The theme of this year’s Energy Saving Week is a Community Day, the idea being if we club together, then collectively, we can make a difference. For example, if every UK household installed three energy saving light bulbs, enough energy would be saved annually to supply the street lighting of the UK.
And, if each of us made a special effort to influence the people we know and get them to save energy in their homes, we could make a real difference to the environment. But it’s not just the environment you can help because saving energy in your home could also save you up to around £250 a year in fuel bills!
If you would like to participate in Energy Saving Week 2007 pop along and see the Energy Efficiency Team in Gosport High Street on Tuesday 23 October, where from 9am to 3pm you can find out more about how to:
- save money
- create a warmer and healthy home
- 'do your bit' to create a more sustainable energy future
- spread the energy conservation message within your community
