If the sound of traditional carols being sung by a choir sends your thoughts to Christmas, then the festivities planned at Explosion!, The Museum of Naval Firepower this year are sure to get the whole family in a festive mood.
The Museum, which will be open at weekends over the Christmas holidays including Saturday 29 and Sunday 30 of December, plays host to a traditional Carol Concert on Wednesday 19 December.
Set in the Grand Magazine, an eighteenth century gunpowder vault which stored barrels of gunpowder before the battle of Trafalgar, the Lee Singers will lead the carols and Christmas music. The singing begins at 7.30pm, but the coffee shop will be open from 6.30pm for refreshments. Tickets cost £6 Adults and £5 concessions and must be booked in advance.
On Saturday 22 December at 2pm, the family show, ‘Head in the Clouds,’ is being performed by the fabulous Hand to Mouth Theatre Company. Featuring Martin Bridle and Su Eaton, this witty and whimsical, magical and musical fairy tale will appeal to all ages. The show is being held in the Museum’s Conference Hall at 2pm, and tickets cost £5 which will include free entry to the Museum.
