Gosport Borough Council is busy preparing for the Festive Season and the annual switch on of their Christmas Lights will take place on Monday 26 November, in Lawrence Square (outside the Town Hall)
The event will kick off at 3.30pm when 107.4 the quay and DJ Marky B introduce Gosport to the fantastic Scissor Sisters Tribute Band.
At 4.15pm young songstress Amy Thomsett will sing and entertain the crowds before The Big Noise Samba Band take the town by storm. At 4.40pm the children of St John’s Primary School will process to the Town Hall with their lanterns and Gosport Carnival Factory costumes for the communal carol singing to begin.
The Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Keith Gill, will perform the switch on at 5.15pm and then together with Father Christmas, they will issue sweets and goody bags to the children.
107.4 the quay will be broadcasting live from Gosport throughout the afternoon and Marky B will be compering the event and providing some fantastic Christmas music.
The Gosport Discovery Centre is getting Christmassy too! Their café will be open with some special festive offers including non alcoholic mulled drinks and mince pies, so there is no reason to say you are cold! There will also be a range of Christmas themed items to borrow or hire including adult and children’s books, DVDs and videos. There’s also some festive 'stocking fillers' for purchase and some shh! ‘quiet’ Christmas music playing throughout the afternoon. Plus for the children, there will be a Bigwigs drop-in workshop between 4 - 6 pm.
It promises to be a great evening so make sure you don’t miss it!
