All Primary schools in Gosport are being invited to design a sculpture from household and garden recyclable material, as part of a county-wide competition.
Although open to all primary schools in the Borough, only the first five entries received will go forward to the final judging process, for this Hampshire wide ‘Sculptures from Scrap’ competition.
Sculptures can be made from household or garden material, and visitors to the Keen 2B Green Day, being held at The Bursledon Brickworks, Swanwick, on Sunday 10 June will get the chance to vote for their favourite piece. The winning school will receive the Recycle for Hampshire Schools Flag.
“We do what we can to encourage everyone to recycle and youngsters are always very keen. But this is another excellent scheme to get young people involved and thinking about just what, around them, can be recycled,” said Councillor Dennis Wright, Chairman of the Community & Environment Board.
To avoid disappointment schools are urged to get their entries in early, as only the first five borough schools to enter will be able to take part. Schools should have already received their entry form, but if you haven’t then contact Jenny Marlow, Recycling Officer, Gosport Borough Council Tel: (023) 9254 5629.
