Nigel Bowman (46) of Avery Lane Gosport, appeared at Fareham Magistrates Court for offences under the Social Security Administration Act 1992 and the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981
Bowman pleaded guilty to 3 offences. Bowman had dishonestly failed to notify Gosport Borough Council that he had ceased to claim Jobseekers Allowance and that he had started work. This enabled him to receive more Housing Benefit than he was entitled to. During the investigation it was discovered that Bowman had produced a false timesheet to Gosport Borough Council.
This resulted in an overpayment of over £600 which had to be paid back in full to the Council. In addition Bowman was sentenced to a 12 month conditional discharge.
