Gosport Borough Council is delighted to report that 59 householders are soon to receive a £50 rebate on their Council Tax thanks to a new initiative by British Gas.
British Gas, supported by Gosport Borough Council, are offering owner-occupiers, and those privately renting, discounted loft and cavity wall insulation, PLUS the chance of a £50 rebate off their Council Tax bill.
“The take-up since April has been surprising for as well as the 59 who have completed and are about to receive their rebate, 21 others are in the process of having the installation done, bringing the total to 80 people already on the scheme,” said Carol White, Project Officer for the Decent Homes Standard at Gosport Borough Council.
Interest free payment terms over 1-2 years may also be available for the discounted insulation*.
The typical discounted prices based on a three-bed home are:-
- Cavity Wall insulation from £250
- Loft Insulation from £275
Those in receipt of a qualifying benefit may also be able to get the loft and cavity wall insulation FREE but without the £50 Council Tax rebate*. The Scheme, which is guaranteed until December 2007, has already resulted in British Gas receiving 121 applications from Gosport residents, 59 of those just about to complete and receive their rebate.
“What is so great about the scheme is the fact that as well as making savings via the £50 rebate on their Council Tax, people are also able to save money on the installation and on all their future heating bills, added Carol, and that’s without the good they are doing for the environment!”
