Do you know someone who is kind, caring and does so much for others? If you do, now is the time to put pen to paper and nominate them for a Citizen of the Year Award.
The Award is given to someone who lives in Gosport and who has made a difference through their help and kindness to others. Maybe they help the elderly or disabled by doing odd jobs, driving, shopping, or gardening, or do charity work or fundraising. Or maybe they dedicate their spare time to helping youngsters.
If you know someone with a heart of gold, then nominate them now. Simply write a letter, giving a description of why you think they deserve to receive the award, and send it to the Chief Executive, Gosport Borough Council, Town Hall, High Street, Gosport. PO12 1EB.
The Council are also looking for nominations for the ‘Young Citizen of the Year’ and to qualify the person, again, must live in the Borough and be 18 or under. They may have shown courage in overcoming or coping with a disability, or in an act of bravery, or maybe demonstrated a helping and caring attitude to the disadvantaged. If you know a young person who fits the bill, then please let us know, the address is the same.
Nominations for both categories must be received by Friday 30 March 2007. Winners will be notified and invited to attend the Mayor Making Ceremony at the Thorngate Halls, to receive their Award from the incoming Mayor.
