Binni Returned to Loving Owners

Binni, the dog who recently turned up in a recycling bin in Gosport, has today been safely reunited with her loving family in - West Sussex!

Following a very busy week of trying to trace Binni's home and rightful owners, Council Officers at Gosport have finally come up trumps!

Binni, or Bramble as she is known by her family, actually belongs to a family West Sussex. Just over a month ago her elderly owners were hospitalised and with no one to care for her, Bramble was put in the care of a distant family member.

Sadly the nature in which the dog was kept during this time was not to the standard it should have been. Unbeknown to the family, Bramble, whose condition was deteriorating had not been looked after and had been dumped. The circumstances surrounding her care and being found in the bin are currently subject to an RSPCA investigation.

This however does not reflect on the true owners of Bramble who have been described as 'model owners'  by the veterinary surgeon who has been treating Bramble for many years, giving her regular inoculations and treatment for a number of ailments, up until 3 days prior to her move to her temporary home.

Now, however, with her owner traced and out of hospital, Bramble is on her way home for an emotional reunion.

There is no doubt that she will be sadly missed by all the team at Verdant, the Council contractors who adopted this wonderful little dog after finding her in the bin. They all donated money to pay for the veterinary treatment she required on finding her and she even stole the hearts of the public who donated money for her treatment.

“The family have given their sincere thanks to the Verdant team for their care of Bramble and they would also like to thank all those who have sent in donations,” said Tom Cousins, Enforcement Officer at Gosport Borough Council.

“They realise that without the care she received from the Verdant team that Brambles life would have seriously been in jeopardy.  Also, because of their involvement and help in this matter, it has been decided to hand over any remaining money from donations to the RSPCA.”

Now safely reunited with her owners, the RSPCA here will continue to investigate the matter of Bramble’s care whilst in her temporary home.
