Colin Jacobs (59) of Southway, Gosport, has appeared at Fareham Magistrates Court charged with offences under the Social Security Administration Act 1992.
Jacobs pleaded guilty to 5 offences. He had dishonestly submitted false Housing and Council Tax Benefit claim forms in order to receive more Housing and Council Tax Benefit to that which he was entitled to receive. Jacobs did not inform Gosport Borough Council that he had capital in an undeclared bank account.
The offences resulted in an overpayment of more than £1,100, money which must be paid back to the Council in full. In addition, the Court fined Jacobs £750 and ordered him to pay £100 towards the Council’s costs.
