Old Time Music Hall a Resounding Success

The Thorngate Halls rang with the sounds of happy voices on Saturday night, as everyone joined in the sing-a-long at the Old Time Music Hall, held in support of the Mayor of Gosport’s Charities.

Dressed appropriately for the event, the Mayor, Councillor June Cully and her escort for the year, and son, Jess joined in the sing song with around 250 other songsters.

The Old Time Music Hall evening had been arranged by Thorngate Pantomime and Variety Group, who are based at the Community Centre, on behalf of the Mayors charities which are:- Gosport & Fareham Multiple Sclerosis Society and Gosport Carers.

“The evening, which also included a supper and raffle, raised around £2,000 for my charities and I would like to say thank you to both the Variety Group for the sterling performance and the public for joining in and making the event such a success,” said the Mayor, Cllr June Cully. “Everyone said they’d had a great time and said they wished there were more of this type of event for them to attend. Sadly I don’t have time to arrange another evening, but I would be happy to welcome people along to a Jazz night being held this Wednesday (2 May) when we plan to have an equally good time.”

Tickets for the Jazz night, featuring New Orleans Heat, will be available on the door price £8.  The event, which has been organised for the Mayors Charities by the Gosport Jazz Club, begins at 8pm.
