When all the turkey has been eaten and the tinsel packed away, remember you can recycle your real Christmas tree at four sites across the Borough as part of Gosport Borough Council’s Tree Shredding Day.
The trees will be shredded on-site and the chippings used on pathways in parks and playgrounds in Gosport. The shredding events will be held on Sunday 6 January 2008, between 10.30am and 2.00pm at:
- Beach Road car park, Lee-on-the-Solent
- Stokes Bay Central car park (Pebble Beach)
- The Range, Elson
- Bridgemary Park car park
FREE hot drinks will be on offer to the first 40 residents to bring their tree to Lee-on-the-Solent, and to all residents who bring their trees to the other sites (thanks to The Range, Pebble Beach Café, The Penguin Café and The Bluebird Café).
Remember; please do not put your tree out with your refuse or recycling bin, as it will not be collected. If you cannot get to one of these venues, you can:-
Take your tree to Gosport Household Waste Recycling Centre, Grange Road, where it will be taken for central composting.
Chop it into pieces and place in green Gosport Borough Council recycling sacks. Do not exceed the 13kg weight limit per sack, but purchase multiple sacks to compost a large tree.
