An investigation by the Counter Fraud Team at Gosport Borough Council resulted in Shelley Dine (35) of Arminers Close, Gosport appearing at Fareham Magistrates Court.
Charged with 3 offences under the Social Security Administration Act 1992, Dine had dishonestly, falsely allowed her husband to claim Housing and Council Tax Benefit by failing to inform Gosport Borough Council that she had commenced employment. This resulted in an overpayment of over £5,000.
Having pleaded guilty to all the charges Dine was sentenced to 60 hours unpaid work in the community and ordered to pay £100 towards costs. In addition to this Dine must repay any outstanding overpayment to Gosport Borough Council.
