Gosport Nappy Show!

The Fareham & Gosport Real Nappy Network is holding a baby fashion show to promote the use of real (washable) nappies on Saturday 26 July, at Walpole Park, Gosport.

Organised in conjunction with Gosport’s ‘Alive and Kicking’ community event The Nappy Fashion Show will begin at 1pm in the Performance Zone. Babies will be modelling a wide range of the nappies available and showing off new and funky designs including polka dots, denim-print, and even Harry Potter nappies!

Experts will be on hand to guide parents and parents-to-be through all the different brands, shapes and sizes of real nappies, and answer any questions on the subject.

The UK currently throws away around 3 billion disposable nappies every year, that’s an estimated 690,000 tonnes of waste, most of which goes to landfill where it generates methane, a powerful greenhouse gas.

The message is clear: providing parents follow simple guidelines when using real nappies, there can be significant gains for the environment both in reduced greenhouse gases and the amount of household waste sent to landfill or for incineration.  Importantly, real nappies have other benefits including big cost savings, natural fabrics against your baby’s skin and a massive choice of colours and styles for parents.

In addition to the fashion show, information and advice on real nappies will be available from10am until 4pm at the Recycling Marquee. Come and get a ‘feel for real nappies’, speak to a Nappy Advisor and collect your FREE copy of the ‘Real Nappy Guide: all you need to know about washable nappies’.
