The Lee Recycling Group (LRG) will be on hand to answer all your questions on recycling when they attend the Lee-on-Solent Infant & Junior School’s Summer Fete, being held at the Elmore Road site this coming Saturday, 30 June.
After the great success of the Community Recycling Incentives Project, which saw Lee -on-the-Solent receive a reward of £50,000 from DEFRA to enhance their local environment, the Community Champions have now formed their own Community Action Group called the ‘Lee- on-the- Solent Recycling Group’.
The purpose of the group is to raise awareness of recycling issues and their objectives are to:
- Increase participation in household recycling
- Reduce the amount of waste generated by households
- Reduce waste disposal in households by encouraging and increasing their reuse and repair
- Increase participation in composting activities
- Seek to increase recruitment of members
The fete runs from 1pm to 4pm and the LRG will man the stall throughout. They will have lots of recycling information to hand, plus a space-themed ‘junk modelling’ session which teaches children the importance of re-using and recycling items rather than just throwing them away.
You can check out the wide variety of attractions, including a reptile farm, fire engine, bouncy castle and much more! Plus there’s also the chance to win a prize in the grand summer draw and raffle. Refreshments will also be available, so why not come along to the Lee on Solent Schools Summer Fete for a fun filled family afternoon out!
