Council Encouraged By Result of Recent Customer Survey

Gosport Borough Council were delighted with the results of a recent Customer Survey, which showed that the services they provide to their customers were highly rated.

The survey, conducted by MRUK Research, has enabled the Council to collect detailed information about its customers and more importantly their views on the services they receive from the authority.

Results showed that Housing Services has seen an improvement in satisfaction among its tenants since a similar survey was conducted in 2003, with a satisfaction rating of over 87%, highlighting the following key points that:-
  • Repairs and maintenance were highly rated, as were all aspects of the repairs service
  • Tenants are always kept up to date and informed

Satisfaction with the council’s Planning Service was equally impressive with over 87% of applicants stating they were satisfied with the service they received.

In fact it is anticipated that when the Audit Commission releases its Best Value benchmarking data for 2006, that Gosport’s Housing and Planning Services will be amongst the best performers in England.

“We are very encouraged by this tremendous vote of confidence from our residents on our service delivery,” said Ian Lycett, Chief Executive of Gosport Borough Council.
“We place a very high importance on consulting with, and listening to the views of, our residents and have learnt over many years to always take account of their opinions. We will continue to ensure their needs and views are listened too and are always central to whatever we do in the future.”

The survey results come at a time when the Council can also announce that over the last year it has exceeded its performance targets in other areas.

  • The Council’s Streetscene Team have exceeded performance targets for dealing with litter in the town’s streets and open spaces and
  • The Council’s Community Safety Team has also exceeded their targets in assisting the Police in reducing burglaries and robberies, something that is important to every resident.
