On Thursday 16 June Grange Junior School will once again host the annual Gosport Girls 7- a-side Football competition.
Organised jointly by Grange Junior School and Gosport Borough Council, the competition has attracted entries from 14 local junior and primary schools with one entry submitted from neighbouring Castle Primary School, Fareham.
Aimed at girls in school years 5 and 6 (under 11’s), the event kicks off at 3.45pm. Alverstoke Junior School will be hoping to retain the trophy they won last year, whilst last year’s runners up, Newtown, are hoping to go one better.
After the group matches, the 2 semi-finals will be held at 6pm with the final kicking off at 6.20pm. The Mayor of Gosport, Cllr Chris Carter, will be on hand to present the winner’s trophy and medals at around 6.35pm as well as the `Fair Play` Shield.
The event is now in its 8th year and competition gets stronger each year, with the possibility the trophy might even leave Gosport for the first time this year.
