On Tuesday 13 December, visitors to Gosport’s bustling market can expect even more choice. For as well as the regular market, extra traders have signed up to come along and provide some extra Christmas goodies.
“Our Tuesday and Saturday market is always popular with residents and visitors alike, but at Christmas time the atmosphere is electric,” said Cllr Mark Hook, Leader of the Council. “Walk down through the busy High Street and your senses are overloaded. There’s the sight of traders with Santa hats as they chat and sell their wares, some with stalls bedecked with fairy lights, others with Christmas music playing. This, together with the smells from food cooking on a crisp cold day, brings back memories of a good old fashioned Christmas.”
From 9am to around 3pm there will be fruit and vegetables, meat, sweets, clothes for all the family, slippers, shoes, stocking fillers etc. And with around a dozen new stalls expected, organisers hope there will be a selection of Christmassy items to help solve those difficult gift ideas!
There will also be face painting, wreath making and a tea cup ride for the children and, between 12 and 2pm the Gosport Solent Brass Band will be providing some festive tunes. So everybody is guaranteed a Happy Christmas!
