Dragons Den Type Bid Wins Funding For Choir

Bridgemary will come alive to the sound of music, thanks to funding recently secured by a Community Development Worker from Gosport Borough Council.

Kate Arnold, a Community Development Worker for Older People at Gosport, recently attended the Chartered Institute of Housing Regional Conference in Brighton. Whilst there Kate took part in a ‘Dragons Den’ type of session, bidding for a share of £5,000 funding, money made available for initiatives to help improve and build communities in the South East.

Kate’ expertise saw her successfully securing £1,000 for publicity to launch the new Bridgemary Community Choir Project.

The Community Choir will help increase people’s skills, provide an enjoyable social activity and, foster community spirit throughout the area by bringing young and old together. The choir will eventually be linked to the new Extra Care Facility, currently under construction at Cunningham Drive, Bridgemary, for once finished; it’s proposed the choir will meet there. Until then the group will find an alternative local venue.

Bridgemary Community Sports College will provide a teacher to help guide and teach the choir. If you’re interested in finding out more about the choir, or want to get involved, then please contact Kate Arnold on Tel: (023) 92 54 5421.
