Gosport Sets Council Tax

At a meeting held at the Town Hall last night, Gosport Borough Councillors set and agreed the Council Tax bandings for the coming financial year.

Gosport’s element of the Council Tax remains unchanged from last year with no increase.  But after taking into account the precepts from Hampshire County Council, Hampshire Police Authority and the Hampshire Fire & Rescue Services, monies the local authority has to collect on their behalf, the figure represents an increase of 1.75% on last year.

This means property Bandings for Gosport for 2010/11 is:-

A

£965.55

B

£1126.47

C

£1287.40

D

£1448.32

E

£1770.17

F

£2092.02

G

£2413.87

H

£2896.64

“We realise that times are tight and believed it was important to maintain a 0% increase on our budget and a 0% increase on the Council Tax for residents this year, but without any cuts to our front line services,” said Councillor Mark Hook, Leader of the Council. “We have worked hard to achieve that so it is somewhat disappointing to have to implement a 1.75% increase for the coming year because we have to collect precepts for the Police, Fire & Rescue and Hampshire County Council within our bills, some of which have increased.”
