Council Thank Partners For A Job Well Done At Annual Dinner

These days partnership working is important in business, and on Friday 26 February the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Diane Searle, will welcome the authority’s partners to a ‘Senior Officers Dinner’, a thank you for the help and support given throughout the year.

This event goes back to the days when Gosport was a wealth of service establishments and the MoD the main employer. As a thank you for their help, the Senior Officer from each base was invited to dine with the Mayor.

“Gosport’s declining military presence now means fewer Senior Officers but more representatives from our partner organisations attend,” said Cllr Mark Hook, Leader of the Council.  “That is people like the Police, Fire & Rescue Service, Queen’s Harbour Master and Hampshire County Council, important associates when it comes to implementing our crime reduction and safer communities work.

“Then we mustn’t forget too our business partners from companies such as SPVA (formerly Centurion), Vector Aerospace (formerly Fleetlands), Institute of Naval Medicine, Covidien and HMS Sultan, who provide jobs for thousands of local people, and without whose investment in the town, more residents would have to commute to find work.”

Special guest will be Heather Carr, whose Councillor husband Jackie sadly died at Christmas. “As Mayor elect Jackie would have been with us and even hosted the event next year,” added Mark. “I’m delighted Heather has chosen to join with us in thanking everyone for the work they have done this year to benefit our community.”
