Individuals and community or voluntary organisations who have a project which could make their area safer, now have less than two weeks to submit their ideas for funding.
As part of a new Home Office Pilot Project, Gosport Community Safety Partnership are organising two YOUdecide events, with the aim of supporting, through funding, small projects which local residents believe will make their neighbourhood a safer place to live.
Up to £20,000 is available (£10,000 each for two areas) to: - improve security; clear waste and graffiti, provide positive things for young people to do, or perhaps to organise a scheme which promotes a healthy lifestyle away from drugs and alcohol.
If as an individual, or part of a community group or organisation in one of the two areas taking part, you provide a service to the community, or you wish to benefit residents by making the area safer to live in, then now is the time to submit a bid for your project. The two areas involved are:-
-
Bridgemary North & South, Peel Common, Rowner and Holbrook Wards
-
Town, Anglesey and Christchurch Wards
The closing date is Friday 26 February after which successful applicants will be invited to give a three minute presentation on why their project deserves funding.
Area 1 presentations take place on 20 March at Bridgemary Community Sports Campus, whilst area 2 presentations take place on 11 March at Fort Brockhurst. Only then will local residents attending their presentations decide the successful applicants.
