French Consul General To Open New Exhibition At Discovery Centre, Gosport

The French Consul General, M Bertrand Cochery, will be opening an exhibition at the Gosport Discovery Centre this coming Friday 22 May at 12 noon.

The exhibition has been put together by Councillor Chris Carter of Gosport Borough Council and former Councillor and Mayor of Gosport, Hon Alderman Graham Hewitt.

The exhibition marks the fiftieth anniversary of the Twinning of Gosport in Hampshire with Royan France, which began in 1959.  The display shows some of the events held and some of the people who have taken part over the years in one of the most successful and long running twinning partnerships.

After opening and looking around the exhibition, the French Consul General will return to the Town Hall before accompany the Mayor of Gosport, Councillor Diane Searle to the Rededication Ceremony being held at the Timespace, Gosport.

Here at 3pm the renaming of the Millennium Promenade to the ‘Esplanade de Royan’ will take place, again in honour of the fiftieth anniversary.
