Secretary Of State – Through Natural England - Decides Camping Is Allowed

On 20 July 2009 the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (through Natural England) granted two exemption certificates to Hampshire Festivals Club, for camping associated with the Stokes Bay Festival, at Gosport.

Hampshire Festivals Club has satisfied the Secretary of State that it meets the requirements of the 2 Acts of Parliament required.

The first certificate granted under paragraph 6 of the First Schedule of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960 means that the use of the school playing fields for 5 days as a caravan site, by Hampshire Festivals Club does not require a caravan site licence or planning permission.

The second exemption certificate granted under Section 269 (6) of the Public Health Act 1936 means that they can operate a campsite on the school playing field without a licence from Gosport Borough Council and also without the need for planning permission.
