Race Equality
This Race Equality Scheme and Action Plan aim to ensure the Council is meeting its legal duties and responsibilities under the Race Relations Amendment Act 2000 which prohibits racial discrimination in the delivery of services and employment.
A draft Race Equality Scheme 2007 – 2010 was published for public consultation between August and November 2007. Results of the consultation with local people, community groups and organisations and other public authorities were reviewed and considered in preparing the final scheme. The Council formally adopted this scheme in February 2008.
The scheme’s action plan will be updated on this site periodically.
