Local Plan Proposals Map 2006

The Proposals Map is shown as adopted in May 2006. However in May 2009, following a direction from the Secretary of State, some policies are no longer valid. The list of "saved" policies should be referred to in conjunction with the Proposals Map. Please also note the following in relation to the Proposals Map :

1 : The Proposals Map shows the boundaries of the Conservation Areas as at May 2006. The boundary of the Lee-on-the-Solent Conservation Area was amended on 11/03/09.

2 : The Proposals Map shows the Areas at Risk of Flooding as at September 2005. The latest information is obtainable from the Environment Agency. (external website)

3 : The Proposals Map shows the Safeguarded Area for the Storage of Munitions as at May 2006. The latest information can be viewed at the Planning reception in the Town Hall.

The Proposals Map can be viewed either via an interactive mapping service (see below) or by using a static PDF (see link at the bottom of this page).

To use the interactive map click on the Enter Mapping Site button, however please note the following:

1 : In order to view the Urban Area Boundary and to find which areas are covered by policies R/DP1 (General Standards of Development within the Urban Area) and R/OS1 (Development Outside of the Urban Area) you are advised to select the “Urban Area Boundary” and “Outside Urban Area” map layers in the key.
2 : To see the current conservation area boundaries use the Conservation Information overlay.
The following guidance notes have been produced to help you use the site. You may wish to read and/or print these notes first.

Enter Mapping Site

The box that appears down the left-hand side of the page displays all the layers used on the map in the form of a key.

It is possible to view selected layers by unticking the layers that are not required and leaving ticks in the boxes next to the required layers, then click the Apply link at the bottom of the key list.

Moving Around the Map

The initial view is the whole Borough at a scale of 1:52811.

The slider bar on the left side allows you to zoom in (move slider up towards the plus sign) or zoom out (move slider down towards the minus sign).

To move around the map use the direction arrows above the slider bar.

To zoom area, click and drag the cursor across the area of the map required.

Query the map for information

The Query the map button can be used to query specific layers on the Proposals Map.

Select the button and then click on a location on the map.

The policy number that relates to the relevant layer will be displayed.

To link to the relevant policy in the Written Statement, click on the appropriate hyper-linked policy number.

This will open a pdf document that may take some time to load as it is 1.5MB in size.

Address Search

To search for an address within Gosport Borough Council select Search tab at the top of the page. Enter the address details into the relevant boxes.

You do not need to know the full address you are searching for. For instance if only the street name is known then the search facility will find all properties on the street name entered.

Once the address details have been entered select the Search button, this will return one address or a list of addresses in the Results window.

By selecting the Show button that appears alongside each address in the Results tab, the map will be drawn with the selected address at the centre.

Printing

The current map can be printed using the Print the map option.

This can be found under the Tasks tab.
