Gosport Borough Council is undertaking a Habitats Regulations Assessment (HRA) of its emerging Core Strategy. This is a requirement of regulation 85 of the Habitats Regulations 2007 (as amended). The assessment will focus on the possible effects of the plan on the nature conservation interests of European-protected areas in the vicinity of the borough. This includes those habitats and species for which the European sites in question have been designated under the Habitats and Birds Directives. The assessment will seek to establish whether or not there will be any potentially adverse effects on the integrity of these European sites arising as a result of proposals in the Core Strategy.
The Screening Report for the HRA and its Appendices have been prepared and are available for consultation. Attention is drawn to Section 6 of the report which asks key questions.
