Local Development Framework

The Government has introduced a new plan system to manage how development takes place in towns and the countryside.

The two-tiered plan system comprises of:

  • Regional Spatial Strategies – in this case the South East Plan prepared by the South East England Regional Assembly (SEERA)

  • Local Development Frameworks (LDF) – a folder of local development documents to be prepared in this case by Gosport Borough Council.

The Council has prepared the following documents:

Local Development Scheme (LDS) - see note below

Gosport Borough Council has prepared a Local Development Scheme which sets out the Council’s programme for preparing its Local Development Framework. Following the publication of new Government regulations the 2007 LDS will shortly be revised.

The Core Strategy will be a key part of the LDF and will set out the overall vision for Gosport over the next 20 years.

The Core Strategy : Preferred Options document due to be published in December 2007 has now been delayed. A revised LDS will shortly be produced to reflect the new timetable. It is likely that further consultation will be undertaken in early 2009.

Statement of Community Involvement (SCI)

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD)
