An out of school club operates during term time before and/or after school.
A Breakfast Club offers the opportunity for children to start their day meeting other children, taking part in social activities and having breakfast, before they start their school day. The starting time varies with individual clubs.
An After School Club operates straight after the school day until approximately 6pm (Check individual clubs for variations). They offer children time to play and enjoy group activities that encourage social interaction. They also provide a snack or evening meal (Check individual clubs for details). Every After School Club will be registered with OFSTED (www.ofsted.gov.uk) and some parents will be able to claim back part of the cost from the Working tax credit initiative (click onto www.inlandrevenue.gov.uk for more details). These services are usually paid per session in advance.
Some Out of School clubs only cater for children who attend the school they operate from. However some provide for other schools, and are willing to collect and transport children from school to the club usually at an additional charge.
