All 14 Hampshire and Isle of Wight local authorities are part of a collective organisation known as the Southern Home Energy Conservation and Action Network (SHECANe), which has 2 dedicated support staff (Manager and Assistant) based at the Environment Centre (tEC), in Southampton.
The SHECANe group is very clear about its purpose and direction as specified in the following:
Mission
SHECANe is a group of local authorities developing partnerships to reduce domestic fossil fuel consumption and CO2 emissions, and to eliminate fuel poverty across Hampshire and the Isle of Wight.
Vision
By 2004, SHECANe will be a highly effective partnership working in co-ordination with a thriving network of local, regional and national stakeholders in energy efficiency, and meeting the targets of the Home Energy Conservation Act, 1995.
