Advances in technology mean that energy saving light bulbs are now available in a wide variety of fittings, shapes and sizes.
The leaflet below illustrates the current choice of energy saving light bulbs together with details of your nearest supplier.
As stated by The European Lamp Industry's Strategy for Domestic Lighting (questions 28-30 refer) energy saving lightbulbs are safe to use in the home. No mercury is released when the bulbs are in use and they pose no danger to you or your family when used correctly. However, if these are broken care should be taken when being cleared-up. Please refer to the link above for further details.
In Gosport, energy saving light bulbs should be disposed of in the same way as fluorescent tubes – take these to the local amenity centre, off Grange Road and place in the special container for WEEE (Waste Electronic and Electrical Equipment) for further details, please contact Streetscene on FREEPHONE 0800 0198 598 or email recycling@gosport.gov.uk
