An Introduction to Renewable and Low Carbon Technologies for Homes in Hampshire and Isle of Wight

Energy plays a indispensable role in modern society. We all depend on a constant and reliable supply of energy for our homes, businesses and for transport.  The majority of the UK's electricity comes from burning fossil fuels (e.g. coal, oil and gas), which is a major contributor to climate change.

In future, the amount and proportion of renewable energy (energy from essentially inexhaustible sources e.g. sun, wind, flowing water, heat from the Earth) generated is set to rise.

The attached leaflet explains in detail the following:
  • Green Electricity - green funds and tariffs
  • Solar Thermal
  • Solar Photovoltaic (PV)
  • Wind Turbines
  • Ground Source Heat Pumps
  • Biomass
  • Small Scale Hydro
