The Returning Officer is responsible for conducting local, county, European and Parliamentary elections held in Gosport. They are also responsible for holding any referendums scheduled to be held.

Registration and Canvass
The Electoral Registration Officer is responsible for the Preparation of the Register of Electors by 1st December each year and the continuous update of the register throughout the year, including requests for the inspection of the registers.
